Since 2001, we have offered web hosting services to hobbyists and small businesses (the flat rate has NEVER changed!). I try to make it very clear to anyone I talk to that this is a one person operation and not part of a larger company or reseller. This has it’s benefits and drawbacks but I try to push for more benefits. Any and all technical support is through me and has to be done around my day job which is doing IT support for a school district.  I keep myself as generally accessible as possible for questions and tech support via electronic communication.

The hardware is professional grade, purchased and owned by me, and is real physical hardware not a virtual host. I personally maintain all the hardware and software. My equipment is co-located in a data center in the town I live in and I am a previous employee in good standing of the business which gives me the added benefit of personal relationships.

The current yearly flat rate is $60 per year. This includes your domain name registration pending availability, server side configuration, and technical support. Technical support is primarily via email or instant messaging but in some cases I may be open to voice communication using  Skype, or I may provide a direct number to call. Technical support is subject to availability and will not interfere with my professional day to day job, you will still receive a timely response from me when issues arise. This service is primarily aimed at small business and hobbyists websites and I reserve the right to defer customer’s websites that I feel may become larger or more resource intensive than this package is geared for. By all means please contact me and I will discuss your ideas to see if I can provide the right service for you.

Service Agreement:

Before service begins I will ask that you send me a plainly stated email requesting my services if our conversations do not already clearly state as such. Any payments made to me via paypal will also be considered as an agreement for one year of service. To terminate the service I also ask that you write an email stating such for my records. Refunds may only be awarded within the first 30 days of a new yearly renewal payment. The renewal amount will be $50 of the $60 total, the cost of the domain name renewal can not be refunded or canceled but may be moved to other hosts. Your service may be stopped or canceled due to late or no payment. Service may be re-activated pending the domain name expiration status, in some cases expired domains become locked and the registrar may charge more to recover it. I am willing to make some exceptions for late payments for returning customers in good standing.

I am happy to answer and all questions you may have, please use the contact page to send me an email.

What is web hosting?

The service I currently offer is purely hosting. As described in the link above, I provide you with space on my server as well as the internet connectivity that will make your website visible online.  When I set you up you will have FTP access with which you will use to transfer your data to the server. This is currently the only direct contact I provide to the server.

Web design:

I want to be very clear that I do not offer any sort of web design. It will be up to the customer to either have web design knowledge or have a third party designer build a site for them. Generally third party designers will charge for their services which you will be responsible for working out.

Web 2.0:

Check the link for a detailed description but this includes web applications such as blogs, content management systems (Drupal, Joomla, etc), forums, and other user interactive web experiences. I have quite a bit of experience setting up web 2.0 applications and also have the database resources available to my customers should they choose to go this route. Generally I will allow customers one database for their website which is included in the standard yearly flat rate.

Google Apps:

Google Apps is an awesome service that provides many great things to you, check the link for details (standard edition). I incorporate Google Apps in the services that I provide, I setup the account and configure it and provide you the ability to administer if you so choose (create email accounts and such). The primary reason I use Google Apps is for the awesomeness that is Gmail. If you have ever used Gmail then you know all the great features it provides. Previously I was hosting email services but it became very time and resource consuming and the webmail interface I was using just wasn’t very good. Gmail takes care of all that, you get your own custom email addresses with all the benefits of Gmail.
